Terms and Conditions:

  • Blacklisted or Stolen Devices
    Any device found to be blacklisted or reported stolen will be handed over to the South African Police Service (SAPS), along with the sender’s details.

  • Account-Locked Devices
    We do not buy devices that are locked to an iCloud, Google, or any other user account. If a locked device is sent to us, the sender must either unlock it remotely or pay a R250 courier fee for its return.

  • Contract Devices
    Devices still under contract cannot be purchased, as the service provider remains the legal owner until the contract is fully paid off.

  • Sealed Devices
    A valid proof of purchase is required for any sealed device to verify the legitimacy of the product. If you wish to sell three or more sealed devices in one batch, one device must be unsealed by our technician team to confirm its contents.

  • Data Responsibility
    Only send devices that are free of personal or sensitive data. All devices received will be reset to factory settings, and all data will be permanently deleted. We do not make backups or offer data recovery under any circumstances.

  • Dead or Non-Working Devices
    If a non-working (“dead”) device is received, we may attempt to repair it immediately. If successful and the device is account-locked, we will request account unlock credentials and the screen lock code (if applicable). Payment will only be made once the device is fully unlocked. If the device is declared non-repairable, the device will be returned on our own cost.

    Should the seller wish to repurchase the repaired device, they may do so at 20% below the current market value. This must be arranged and paid for within 24 hours, or the device will be listed for public sale.

  • Offers and Final Decisions
    Quotes provided on our website are non-binding. sellyouriphone.co.za reserves the right to decline the purchase of any device. If a device is rejected, it will be returned at our expense.

  • Incorrect Descriptions
    If the received device differs significantly from the description provided, a revised offer may be issued. Should the seller reject this offer, a R250 courier fee will apply to return the device.

  • Submission as VAT264 Form
    Submitting your device through our website serves as a digital VAT264 form. By submitting, you confirm that you are selling a secondhand product, and your name will be used as a digital signature.

  • Unclaimed Devices
    If no communication is received from the original owner within 3 months of us receiving the device, we reserve the right to sell or recycle it. This policy helps cover administrative, storage, and handling costs. Ownership claims will no longer be accepted after this period.

Detailed Explanation

Dead

The device is unusable without repairs. The screen doesn’t turn on and there’s no sign of life. Devices purchased in this condition must be removed from iCloud – if any devices are found to be iCloud locked at a later stage (after they have been repaired), the device will need to be unlocked. Please send us a screenshot showing the device does not appear in your list of iCloud devices. We can assist with this, if needed.

Poor

The device is functional without additional repairs, but has notable damage to major components. These include the screen, casing, battery, Touch or Face ID sensors and any other components required for the device to be in full working order. Deep scratches, cracks, or dents would qualify the device as poor condition.

Good

The device is fully working and does not require any repairs to be used further. Minor evidence of previous use in the form of small scratches and scuffs are acceptable. 

Battery maximum capacity (visible in Settings > Battery > Battery Health) must be at 90% or above. If it’s lower than that, we would have to replace the battery before the phone can be resold. A fee of R250 will be deducted from the payout, to go towards covering this cost. 

Mint

The device is fully working and does not require any repairs to be used further. The device has absolutely no signs of previous use, not even minor scuffs or scratches are visible, the device is as good as new.

Battery maximum capacity (visible in Settings > Battery > Battery Health) must be at 95% or higher. 

New

The device still has all original factory seals intact with no evidence of tampering. The box has never been been unsealed or opened, and the device has never been used. Devices must be free from any contractual obligation.
