Sell your iPhone 16 Pro while it is still one generation old.
16 Pro or 16 Pro Max. One generation back is the sweet spot for a second-hand buyer, which makes it the sweet spot for what we can pay you.
A one-generation-old Pro is the easiest phone in the country to sell, and that is genuinely good news for the person selling it. Deep demand means a strong offer, because we are not guessing whether it will move.
In September it becomes two generations old. That is the step where a Pro stops being 'last year's flagship' to a buyer and starts being 'an older phone', and the drop at that point is the largest single move a 16 Pro will make in its life.
The camera dust issue is worth raising here rather than burying it. A number of 16 Pro units developed haze or particles behind the rear lens. If yours has it, it is common enough that we have a price for it rather than a reaction to it.
Every one of these has two numbers.
What it is worth working, and what it is worth faulty. Both are real, both are yours in about a minute, and both depend on the actual device rather than a best case printed on a page. That is why the number lives in the calculator and not in a table here.

If you are upgrading, you are not selling. You are part-paying.
Pro owners upgrade to Pros. Going 16 Pro to 17 Pro is a real jump in camera and battery rather than a marketing one, and the 16 Pro covers a large share of it.
Take the payout as EpicDeals.co.za credit instead of cash and we add 12% on top. That is us paying you for not needing the money in your account today, and it costs you nothing if you were going to spend it here anyway.
The 12% is only worth taking if you were going to spend it. If you need the cash, take the cash, and we will not make the voucher hard to refuse.
What actually moves the number.
The camera, and whether dust got in
Hold it up to a bright window and look through each lens at an angle. Haze or specks behind the glass is a known fault on this generation, it is priced rather than penalised, and declaring it up front is the difference between a firm offer and a phone call after testing.
128GB on the Pro is the weak configuration
The base 16 Pro shipped at 128GB and it is the version buyers skip, because somebody buying a Pro is usually buying it to shoot on. 256GB is where the demand is.
Battery health, now two years in
This is the age where phones separate into the ones that were charged sensibly and the ones that lived on a car charger. Check the real figure under Settings, Battery, Battery Health.
The titanium frame
It scuffs differently to aluminium and shows it at the corners first. Worth two minutes with a bright light before you choose a condition, because it is the first place we look too.
Things that do not disqualify it.
Every one of these lowers the offer. Not one of them ends it. Pick the matching condition, say what is wrong in the notes, and the price you are shown already accounts for it.
- Cracked or shattered screen, front or back glass
- Battery health under 80%, or a phone that dies at 30%
- Face ID that has stopped working
- Charging port that only works if you hold the cable just so
- Camera with dust, haze or a rattling stabiliser
- Water damage, including phones that dried out and seemed fine
- Will not switch on at all
Three ways to take the money.
