Sell your iPhone 12 while it is still a phone and not a part.
12, mini, Pro or Pro Max. Yes, we buy them, and yes, they are worth more than you think. One minute for a real number.
The iPhone 12 is at the age where its owner has usually stopped thinking of it as valuable. It is five generations back, it has been replaced, and it lives in the drawer with the old chargers. That mental write-off happens years before the financial one does.
In reality a 12 Pro in decent condition is still worth a few thousand rand, because it is still a capable phone that somebody in South Africa is actively shopping for. Below this generation the numbers start dropping toward parts value. At the 12 it has not happened yet.
This is the last comfortable moment to sell one. Not an emergency, and not nothing either.
Every one of these has two numbers.
What it is worth working, and what it is worth faulty. Both are real, both are yours in about a minute, and both depend on the actual device rather than a best case printed on a page. That is why the number lives in the calculator and not in a table here.

If you are upgrading, you are not selling. You are part-paying.
From a 12, almost anything newer is a large jump, so this is a case where the sensible move is whichever recent model the trade-in credit gets you closest to rather than the newest one.
Take the payout as EpicDeals.co.za credit instead of cash and we add 12% on top. That is us paying you for not needing the money in your account today, and it costs you nothing if you were going to spend it here anyway.
The 12% is only worth taking if you were going to spend it. If you need the cash, take the cash, and we will not make the voucher hard to refuse.
What actually moves the number.
64GB, which is now a real problem
The base 12 shipped with 64GB, and that is genuinely limiting on a modern iPhone. It is the configuration that fetches least on this page, by a wider margin than storage usually causes.
Battery, now well past its design life
A five-year-old battery is a five-year-old battery. Most 12s we see are in the seventies. That is expected, priced in, and not a reason to hold back from getting a quote.
The flat edges, and what they did to the corners
The 12 brought back squared edges, which look excellent and chip on impact rather than dent. Corner damage is the most common cosmetic issue on this generation. Check all four before describing it.
Still fully supported by Apple
The 12 still receives current iOS, which is what keeps it a working phone in a buyer's eyes rather than a spare. That support window is the main thing holding its value up, and it will not last forever.
Things that do not disqualify it.
Every one of these lowers the offer. Not one of them ends it. Pick the matching condition, say what is wrong in the notes, and the price you are shown already accounts for it.
- Cracked or shattered screen, front or back glass
- Battery health under 80%, or a phone that dies at 30%
- Face ID that has stopped working
- Charging port that only works if you hold the cable just so
- Camera with dust, haze or a rattling stabiliser
- Water damage, including phones that dried out and seemed fine
- Will not switch on at all
Three ways to take the money.
