Sell your iPhone 17 Pro before September reprices it.
The most valuable phone on this site, and the one with the most to lose from waiting. A real number in under a minute.
The 17 Pro and Pro Max are the most valuable phones we buy, which cuts both ways. A high number today is also a bigger number to lose, and the loss has a date on it: the iPhone 18 Pro lands in September 2026, and the outgoing Pro is always the model that moves furthest on launch week.
Pro models hold their value better than the base phone in percentage terms and lose more in rand terms. Both facts are true at once, and the second is the one that matters when you are deciding whether to sell this month or next year.
There is a reason we say this plainly rather than letting you find out. The Pro is where a buyback either looks generous or looks like a haircut, and the difference is almost entirely when you sell rather than who you sell to.
Every one of these has two numbers.
What it is worth working, and what it is worth faulty. Both are real, both are yours in about a minute, and both depend on the actual device rather than a best case printed on a page. That is why the number lives in the calculator and not in a table here.

If you are upgrading, you are not selling. You are part-paying.
If you are on a Pro you are almost certainly staying on one. Selling before the keynote and buying after it is the same upgrade for less money, and trade-in credit adds 12% on top of a number that is already the biggest on this site.
Take the payout as EpicDeals.co.za credit instead of cash and we add 12% on top. That is us paying you for not needing the money in your account today, and it costs you nothing if you were going to spend it here anyway.
The 12% is only worth taking if you were going to spend it. If you need the cash, take the cash, and we will not make the voucher hard to refuse.
What actually moves the number.
Storage, which is worth more here than anywhere
This is the one page where storage genuinely moves thousands rather than hundreds. The people buying used Pro Max phones are frequently buying them to shoot ProRes video on, and a 256GB unit is not that phone to them. If yours is 1TB or 2TB, say so precisely.
The titanium frame and how it wore
The Pro's finish shows handling in a way aluminium does not, and the edges go first. Look at the four corners and the band around the camera plate under a bright light before you pick a condition.
The camera plate, specifically
On a Pro the cameras are most of what a buyer is paying for. A hairline scratch across a lens shows up as flare in every photo taken afterwards, and it is the single most expensive scratch you can have on this phone.
Remaining AppleCare+
Worth more on a Pro than on any other iPhone, because the repair costs it covers are higher. Mention it. It is one of the few things that pushes an offer up rather than down.
Things that do not disqualify it.
Every one of these lowers the offer. Not one of them ends it. Pick the matching condition, say what is wrong in the notes, and the price you are shown already accounts for it.
- Cracked or shattered screen, front or back glass
- Battery health under 80%, or a phone that dies at 30%
- Face ID that has stopped working
- Charging port that only works if you hold the cable just so
- Camera with dust, haze or a rattling stabiliser
- Water damage, including phones that dried out and seemed fine
- Will not switch on at all
Three ways to take the money.
