Sell your iPhone 16 before it becomes two generations old.
16, Plus, Pro, Pro Max or the 16e. One minute for a real number, a free courier, and the price you were quoted is the price you get.
The iPhone 16 is in the most expensive year of its life to be sitting in a drawer. It is one generation old, which is the sweet spot for a second-hand buyer and therefore the sweet spot for what we can pay you. In September it becomes two generations old, and two-generations-old is where the depreciation curve stops being polite.
Most iPhone 16s we see are not broken and not unloved. They are simply the phone somebody had before they got the phone they have now, and they have been in a bedside drawer since, quietly losing a few hundred rand a month while nobody watched.
There is nothing wrong with keeping a spare phone. There is something a bit wrong with keeping a spare phone that was worth eight thousand rand when you put it in the drawer and is worth five by the time you remember it.
Every one of these has two numbers.
What it is worth working, and what it is worth faulty. Both are real, both are yours in about a minute, and both depend on the actual device rather than a best case printed on a page. That is why the number lives in the calculator and not in a table here.

If you are upgrading, you are not selling. You are part-paying.
A 16 to a 17 is a real jump rather than a marketing one, and the 16 covers a decent share of it. Take the offer as trade-in credit and it covers 12% more.
Take the payout as EpicDeals.co.za credit instead of cash and we add 12% on top. That is us paying you for not needing the money in your account today, and it costs you nothing if you were going to spend it here anyway.
The 12% is only worth taking if you were going to spend it. If you need the cash, take the cash, and we will not make the voucher hard to refuse.
What actually moves the number.
Pro or not, which is a bigger gap than it looks
The difference between a 16 and a 16 Pro is far wider second-hand than it was new. The Pro's cameras and display are what the resale market actually pays for, so if you have a Pro, you have more than you probably think.
The 16e is priced as its own thing
It is not simply a cheaper iPhone 16, and we do not price it as one. It has its own market, mostly people buying a first iPhone, and it holds value reasonably for what it is. Pick it specifically in the calculator rather than choosing the standard 16.
Battery health, now that it is two years in
This is the age at which battery health starts separating phones that were charged sensibly from phones that lived on a car charger. Under 80% and a buyer expects a replacement, which comes off the offer. Check it before you guess.
Original box and cable
Worth real money on a phone this recent, because boxed phones sell faster and for more. Costs you a shelf you were about to clear anyway.
Things that do not disqualify it.
Every one of these lowers the offer. Not one of them ends it. Pick the matching condition, say what is wrong in the notes, and the price you are shown already accounts for it.
- Cracked or shattered screen, front or back glass
- Battery health under 80%, or a phone that dies at 30%
- Face ID that has stopped working
- Charging port that only works if you hold the cable just so
- Camera with dust, haze or a rattling stabiliser
- Water damage, including phones that dried out and seemed fine
- Will not switch on at all
Three ways to take the money.
